Continental airlines and Assist-Card announce agreement to offer 24-hours of free travel protection on tickets sold in Latin America.

HOUSTON, June 1, 2010 -- Continental Airlines (NYSE; CAL) is launching a value-added program with ASSIST-CARD as part of the services offered by the airline. ASSIST-CARD is the world’s largest organization that offers cashless assistance to the traveler. All tickets purchased at a Continental Airlines ticket office or through a travel agent within any Latin American city will include the services of ASSIST-CARD during the first 24 hours of travel to any destination at no additional cost.

When purchasing the ticket, the customer will have the option to accept the free offer valid during the first 24 hours after arriving at their destination. If accepted, the traveler(s) will be able to extend the ASSIST-CARD protection for the duration of the trip.

“ Through our relationship with ASSIST-CARD, a global brand widely recognized in Latin America, Continental Airlines will be the only U.S carrier to offer this benefit to our clients in the region, an additional service that not only brings security and assurance, but that it is also free of charge during the first 24 hours after arrival at your destination”, commented Roberto Girotti, Continental Airlines’ Marketing Director for Latin America. “This is yet another way that Continental Airlines makes the well-being of our clients a priority”.

“It doesn’t matter if your trip is to an exotic locale or to an everyday destination. ASSIST-CARD is, along with a passport and a ticket, an indispensable document for today’s traveler”, commented Claudio Darin, Regional Marketing Manager for ASSIST-CARD. About Continental Airlines

About ASSIST-CARD

ASSIST-CARD was created in 1972 in Geneva, Switzerland. The company started operations by developing a new and revolutionary concept: “travelers assistance”, as opposed to “travelers insurance” which was the typical insurance coverage available at the time and that offered merely the reimbursement of part of the expenses, leaving the traveler alone to deal with language barriers and unfamiliar environments in order to obtain local services.

Since then, ASSIST-CARD has developed into the largest travel assistance network in the world, covering all 5 continents. With staff in 110 countries, supervised through 49 Regional Call Centers, this network guarantees an effective operational structure that can be accessed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and in many languages, helping travelers to feel at home anywhere in the world.
